A multidisciplinary Brazilian artist pulling letters apart, rebuilding them through color and leaving the imagination to finish the sentence.

01

FROM THE STAGE TO THE STREET

Mari Monteiro is an LGBTQIA+ artist from Ibitinga, São Paulo, who graduated in Performing Arts.

After moving to Bauru, she discovered graffiti in 2015, opening a new path between performance, public space and visual expression.

02

ART THAT TEACHES BACK

Today, Mari works as an art educator, visual artist and graffiti artist.

Her practice moves between making, teaching and creating space for other people to experiment with their own visual language.

03

LETTERS WITHOUT RULES

Mari currently works with calligraffiti, combining abstract forms and vibrant color across her compositions.

Letters and words are taken apart, stretched, layered and reframed until language becomes shape and the viewer is invited to complete the meaning.

04

PAINTING ACROSS BRAZIL

Mari has participated in festivals across several Brazilian states, including Tocantins, Acre, Paraná, Espírito Santo, São Paulo and Pernambuco.

Beyond Brazil, she has also painted in Chile and Peru, carrying her visual language across borders, walls and different communities.

05

THE SURFACE IS PART OF THE STORY

As a multidisciplinary artist, Mari moves between walls, wood, glass and found objects.

She enjoys exploring unfamiliar materials and reframing them, allowing each surface to change the work instead of simply holding it.
