Joan Tarragó is a Spanish multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Barcelona.

He earned his Fine Arts degree from the Universitat de Barcelona and also spent time studying abroad at the Athens School of Fine Arts.

THE STUDIO KEEPS MOVING

Since beginning his professional career, Joan has stayed in motion between Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, Biarritz, New York, Richmond, Miami and Copenhagen.

His work has also carried him through Thailand, Bulgaria, Gambia and farther reaches of the world, allowing travel, research and unfamiliar environments to continually reshape his visual language.

THE PAGE WAS NEVER ENOUGH

Joan’s interdisciplinary practice travels between illustration, graphic design and mural art in both two and three dimensions.

For him, illustration is not confined to a flat surface. It can expand into architecture, objects and the surrounding environment.

BUILDING BETWEEN DISCIPLINES

Joan strives to build bridges between art and design, bringing illustration, painting, street art and visual communication into the same conversation.

Instead of treating each discipline as a separate category, he allows them to overlap, interrupt and strengthen one another.

ART THAT DEVELOPS SPACE

Scale and setting are active parts of Joan’s work. A composition can change when it moves from paper to a wall, from a wall to an object or from an object into an entire room.

The space does not simply display the artwork. The space becomes part of it.

STILL MOVING

When he is not creating in his Barcelona studio, Joan participates in mural festivals, prepares new exhibitions and collaborates with brands and organizations.
